Sourcing ingredients from natural material is an important step away from a fossil-based economy. Whilst we aim to increase the amount of naturally derived skincare ingredients within our product formulas, we carefully evaluate their skincare performance, as well as their environmental impact.

Due to its unique properties, palm (kernel) oil is a commonly used ingredient in skincare formulas. The main issue with palm oil is that often large areas of rainforest are destroyed to make room for oil palm plantations. At NIVEA, we are convinced that palm (kernel) oil must be obtained sustainably to protect rainforests from deforestation.
